As some of you know (or now know) Alabama doesn't allow SBRs even with a tax stamp. Now it is possible to have a say 14.5in barrel with a pinned compensator/etc.

Now I'm wondering, could I get (not counting cost) a 12in barrel, then have a 5in suppressor pinned and welded on? Will that work, and is it legal?

Hayden

You can, the question is why would you?

Alot of people ran out and put KX3's on 13.2 inch barrels... They still had a 16" gun but severely reduced velocity

Honestly there is no advantage to running a 12 inch barrel with a 5 inch flash hider or comp

No, I mean running a 12in barrel with a 4-5in suppressor (silencer, the things that reduce noise). I see where I didn't make myself clear, sorry.

Are suppressors legal there?

Also you have to remember that one suppressors do not have an infinite life span... Your can will be "shot out" long before your barrel

Then you have to take into think about what you will do if you have a baffle strike or some other issue with your can and now have to remove it

Not to mention are you willing to risk messing up a $700-1000 dollar can by having it pinned and welded? Honestly, not worth the risk to me.

I was just curious...I really don't see the point except on a long range weapon, or for cqb (for my ears sake). Thanks.
